“If you follow my decrees and are careful to obey my commands…”
Leviticus 26:3 (NLT)
Let’s consider the character of God. Do you think you can trust Him? Has He proven Himself faithful? He has given us the gift of life. He gives us laughter, love and good food. He protects us from harm. He heals our diseases. Above all, He forgives us of our sins and gives us everlasting life. Has He earned your trust?
Now the LORD had delivered the children of Israel from the bondage of Egypt with a mighty hand and outstretched arm. He brought them to Mount Sinai where He gave them His perfect laws. In the first part of Leviticus 26, God tells them how He would bless them if they kept His commandments.
- He would give them rain in its season so their land would yield crops and their trees would yield fruit.
- He would give them peace in the land so that they could sleep and not be afraid.
- They would defeat their enemies.
- Yahweh would be their God, and they would be His people.
We are not under the old covenant of keeping the Law. But under the new covenant we are told to keep ourselves in the love of God (Jude 21). How do we do that?
“He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him.”
John 14:21 (NKJV)
What are Christ’s commandments? He told us that the two greatest commandments are to love God with all our heart, soul and mind and to love our neighbor as ourselves (Matthew 22:37–39).
God wants to bless you. He wants to dwell with you every moment of every day. When you keep yourself in His love by loving Him and others and keeping away from sin, then you are in the place where He can pour out His grace, protection, and provision into your life. Do you believe this?
