“But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.” (Matthew 6.6)
Children are taught good habits by giving them a reward. Recently, this is how our grandson has been potty-trained. When it comes to the habit of prayer, we should remember that it carries with it a reward. While there are times for corporate prayers, Jesus instructs us to pray privately to God. If we will faithfully pray in secret, God will faithfully reward us openly. Is it wrong for us to consider the reward? Evidently not, or else Jesus wouldn’t have offered it. The Father gives us an incentive because He wants to hear from His kids! Have you checked in with Him today?
