The Next Jesus Movement

I grew up in an extraordinary time. I was eleven years old when this cover was published. In my early teens I saw hundreds of young people, drawn by music and love, become followers of Jesus Christ. Out of the anti-establishment hippie culture, sexual revolution, LSD, Manson murders, and Vietnam came a new voice for change: The Jesus Movement.

Fast forward forty-plus years.  Disillusioned people leaving the Church, another sexual revolution of pornography and homosexuality, prescription pills in excess, school massacres, the war on terrorism, and federal borrowing at the rate of $16,000 per second. Could it be time for The Next Jesus Movement?

I believe God is on the move. Historically, revivals and awakenings occur in the midst of spiritual darkness and departure from God and His Word. The pendulum swings so far and then God intervenes, pouring out His Spirit on a new generation. On the human side, people get fed-up with the cultural lies and crave what is real, spiritual and everlasting.

Could this really happen in our day?

In all things there is God’s part and our part. We cannot do God’s part, and He won’t do our part. What do you think? Is spiritual revival our only hope? What would it take to get there?

  1. I agree. It sometimes seems that everything is falling apart. And the idea of a Jesus revolution is really exciting to me.

  2. Thanks for leaving a comment, C.J. Do you have any idea on what could be a catalyst for this?

  3. I believe the catalyst is boldness. The church standing, uncompromising and bold in the way of this onslaught- reaching out, and not holding back, going forth, and inviting those who are searching to the cross, instead of cowering behind the walls of the church. The darker it gets in this world, the stronger and more noticeable will a brilliant burst of light will be.

    1. I couldn’t agree more!
