The Morning After

In a few weeks, Americans will vote into office our next president. The morning after the election, whether the White House is red or blue, these ten things remain:

  1. God is on the throne.
  2. His executive orders (i.e. the Bible) are still in effect.
  3. The Kingdom of God still trumps the governments of men (pardon the pun).
  4. The character of Christ is still unblemished.
  5. Republicans and Democrats stand united as sinners in need of grace.
  6. Whether you live in a blue state or a red state, the same blood of Jesus cleanses your sin.
  7. When campaign promises are forgotten, God’s promises remain.
  8. God still loves America and has a plan for her.
  9. The solutions to our greatest problems are found through praying–not polling or politicking .
  10. We have a four-year reprieve from presidential campaigning (i.e. mudslinging)! (Realistically, it’s probably only a two-year reprieve.)

Over the next few weeks and beyond, let us meditate on these words of Jesus:

“Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” (John 14:27)
