Prayer & Fasting–Day 4

humility

“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 5:3)

I have heard it said that revival begins at the point of personal dissatisfaction. When we stop pointing out the faults in others, and earnestly cry out to God saying, “Be merciful to me, a sinner,” then revival begins in our own hearts.

Many years ago, I was driving from Boise to Portland, Oregon. Much of this trip is along the beautiful Columbia River Gorge.

The thought occurred to me: where does all this water come from? Then our family went on a camping trip in the Canadian Rockies. I saw a sign for Columbia Lake, which forms the headwaters of the Columbia River. How is this magnificent river formed? One melting snowflake at a time.

I see revival working the same way. As one heart melts in brokenness before God…as one person humbles himself, confesses his sins, and believes in Jesus Christ, he enters the kingdom of heaven. He or she becomes one drop in a river of revival. As many people throughout our nation and world humble themselves in this way and call upon the Name of the LORD, revival will come.

How thirsty are you for what is real? Let us break off our sins and humble ourselves today. The world needs the river of broken hearts that are filled with love for God and others.
