New Year’s Day

“Therefore, I will give thanks to You among the nations, O LORD, and I will sing praises to Your name.”

Psalm 18:49 (NASB)

In October I took a hiatus from writing this blog. I was preparing to go to Africa for two weeks, and I knew I would not be able to keep up with it. The trip was amazing. I went with a team of 23 other people where we taught at a pastor’s conference in Uganda, taught army chaplains in South Sudan, and even went on a Safari!

If you are interested, here’s the video.

The trip ended at the end of October. So why did it take me so long to start up the blog again? Good question. This is the trouble with habits–whether good or bad. If you start them and do them consistently, then it makes it easier to remain in the pattern. This is also true if you neglect habits. Of course, I could give reasons for why my schedule has been so full with other activities. But the bottom line is that I got out of the habit and stayed out of the habit.

I am sure this is a common problem, which is why so many people try to start the New Year off on the right foot. And that is what I am doing today.

To be honest, I questioned whether I should continue with this blog because it takes about an hour each day, five days a week. I even prayed that God would show me if this was a good use of my time. Then in my daily Bible reading this morning I read the verse above. David was so full of gratitude for everything God had done for him and for delivering him from all his enemies that he vowed to give thanks to the LORD among the nations and to sing praises to His name. Considering how much David’s psalms have impacted the entire world for thousands of years, I think he made good on his promise. If David could do that, then I should be able to share my reflections on the Scriptures with others. Right? At least, that is my reasoning.

So, I throw my hat into the rink with many others to make this New Year’s resolution. I will do my best to keep writing this blog five days a week in the hope that it will inspire others to love the Scriptures and apply them to their lives.

Thank you for reading, and may you truly have a very blessed New Year!😊

I for one am thankful you feel led to continue writing these! Because sometimes I don’t feel like doing my Bible reading and I do this first and it encourages to open my Bible 👏🏼😇

Thank you so much for your encouragement! 😊 That blesses me more than you know. Do you mind if I ask what is your first name?
