“Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” (James 5:16, KJV)
OK I have a secret to tell you. Cindy and I rented Julie and Julia and I have now become a Julia Child fan. I actually have old episodes of The French Chef waiting for me to pick up at the library. Yes, movies do influence us, don’t they?
But the biggest impression the movie made on me was not the Bifteck Saute au Beurre but the commitment of Julie Powell to blog every day for a year on her cooking adventures. I felt a little sheepish watching her type at her computer each day, realizing it was a true story (making allowances for Hollywood story-streetttccchhhing). I figured that if a gal from Queens, New York can do it, then I can do it–not the gourmet cooking, but the diligent blogging.
My problem is that although I started this blog nearly a year ago, and even called it “Daily Meditation”, my entries have been anything but “daily.” I even thought about changing the name to allow for my slacking tendencies, but “Whenever-I-Feel-Like-It Meditation” was simply too long.
My New Year’s resolution is to blog every weekday, as I initially proposed on our website. This is where you come in. Would you say a prayer for me that I would be faithful to do it? Maybe that sounds a bit pathetic, but I know I need a supernatural jump start.
On Tuesday nights we have begun a Bible study at our old house called The BreakThrough House. Actually we’ve made it a discipleship house for a bunch of guys (my son included). Our plan is to go through the book of Revelation–timely given the current state of world events. My plan for this blog is to share tidbits from our study. Again, your prayers will be most appreciated.
So until tomorrow when we begin Revelation du Jour…Bon Appetite!
